During Weigh Out Week, there were 578 individuals who returned to have their final weight recorded. Afterward, everyone’s final weight was subtracted from their starting weight, and each person’s weight loss was divided by their original starting weight.
There was a total of 191 people who officially lost at least 5% of their weight. Of this number, one hundred forty five persons received only one entry, because they lost at least 5% of their starting weight but not more than 10%. The forty people who lost more than 10% but less than 15% received 2 entries toward the grand prize drawings. Nine individuals earned 3 entries, by losing at least 15% of their starting weight, while five persons lost more than 20% of their starting weight and earned four entries.
All 272 entries were placed into a raffle drawing that was supervised by members of the Fit City Steering Committee. Ten individuals were selected as the random grand prize finalists, but were not assigned to receive any prize. Each randomly selected finalist was contacted during the week of May 6, 2013, through May 10, 2013, notified that their name had been chosen, and directed to be present on the morning of Saturday, May 18, at Lighten Up & Play!
Each person’s name was placed into a random drawing, which occurred at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on the morning of Saturday, May 18. Fit City Challenge co-founder George Roberts and CBS-19 morning news anchor Dana Hughey officiated this drawing, announcing the grand prize that was being awarded to each randomly selected grand prize finalist.
